Cupid

This artwork is inspired by the story of Cupid and Psyche, the only one story has a happy ending in Greek myth. The story talks about the precious and difficulties of love. Today the elements of the story still can be found in many works, such as “Beauty and Beast” and “Howl's Moving Castle”. In the past, classic artists would choose ideal moment in their mind from myths to paint. That is Gotthold Ephraim Lessing‘s so called “pregnant moment”. In my painting, I choose the moment that cupid, the son of love goddess, accidently hurt by his golden arrow. In the moment he falls in love with Psyche and feels a brand new feeling. This year is the 10 year anniversary after I accomplish my treasure artwork.
